TIGERS EARN SWEEP OVER BEMIDJI STATE 10-3 & 10-8
Tucson, Ariz. – The Dakota Wesleyan baseball squad picked up the two-game sweep of D2 program Bemidji State University by scores of 10-3 and 10-8. Jereko Martinez picked up his first win of the season in his six-inning three run quality start. Diego Jirau did most of the damage for the Tigers at the plate going 2 for 4 with a season-high four RBI while lacing a double and triple. Seth Christiansen had a solid day at the dish going 1 for 1 with a double and with three runs scored and reached base safely five times getting hit twice and walking the other two. Troy Wilhelm relieved Martinez throwing a scoreless seventh frame with two punchouts.

In game two Presten Riddle got the nod and went five innings giving up four runs, three earned, and had five strikeouts while picking up the win (1-1). Landon Waddell recorded the final four outs for DWU picking up the first save of the season. At the plate the Tigers were led by Jake Kostenbauer, Lane Darrow and Drew Kitchens all collecting two hits and having either two runs batted in or scored. Jirau had another good game going 1 for 2 with two runs batted in bringing his total to six on the afternoon. The Tigers have now won three games in a row and look to keep it rolling in their final game of their Tucson trip against Dickinson State with first pitch set for 4:00 p.m.
