CHRISTIANSEN, MIZSAK AND JIRAU COME UP BIG TO COMPLETE FOUR-GAME SWEEP OF BRONCOS
Mitchell,S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan baseball team completed the four game series sweep of the Broncos with today's 5-4 win in game one and 2-1 victory in game two. The Tigers continued their dominant efforts on the mound with Seth Christiansen going the distance in game one to pick up the win and Alexander Mizsak also going complete in game two with his one earned outing, giving the bullpen the day off. DWU bats came up with the clutch hits when they needed them in game one, but none was bigger than Diego Jirau two-run shot to put the Tigers ahead for good at 5-4 in game one. The Tiger pitching staff on the weekend only used five arms, with Wilhelm picking up the one inning save after Glovich eight innings of work. Christiansen, Martinez and Mizsak all threw complete game wins. DWU improves to 9-28 (6-18 GPAC) while the Broncos slip to 12-30 (6-16 GPAC).

Recap:
Seth Christiansen got the start for the Tigers in game one and ran into early problems with the Broncos lineup that really struggled to find any kind of rhythm yesterday against Jereko Martinez, Jacob Glovich and Troy Wilhelm. Christiansen surrendered three runs in the first frame but only on one hit. Seth showed early jitters, hitting the first two batters that he faced. DWU looked poised in the bottom half to return the favor, having bases loaded with nobody out. However, the Tigers walked away with just one lone run for a 3-1 first inning deficit. Dakota Wesleyan got another run back in the second thanks to a hustle triple from Caleb Crist with one out and being plated on the following at bat with Kalub Carmichael single up the middle.
Christiansen made one last mistake in the top of the third, throwing a 0-1 center cut fastball that was hit over the left field fence pushing the Bronco lead to 4-2. Dakota Wesleyan responded in a big way for their starter plating one in the bottom half of the inning and two in the fifth. The two runs in the fifth came off the bat of Jirau who connected on a no-doubter to left center to give DWU the lead for good at 5-4. Christiansen really dialed in from the fourth inning on, only allowing two batters to reach and not allowing any Bronco baserunner to reach second base during that span shutting down any sort of comeback for a 5-4 final.
In game two, Alexander Mizsak got the nod and really had his A stuff on display. Mizsak heater had a little something extra on it all day and was getting late/tight movement from his off-speed keeping the Hastings batters off balanced and guessing all day. Mizsak really only made the one mistake all day giving up a solo home run in the second inning. Besides that, Alex was near perfect only allowing four other batters to reach base the entire day. The Dakota Wesleyan bats really struggled in game two but put the ball in play and came up with the clutch hits when they needed it.
The Tigers would plate two in the first, both being unearned coming on an error by the Bronco first baseman with two-outs to load the bases for Carter Gullickson. Gullickson hit a line drive to second that just went over the jumping fielder's mitt to score the two runs. DWU collected two hits in the inning and went on to only muster one more hit the rest of the game, which came in the second inning. Hasting's starter finished the game retiring 13 batters in a row. This wouldn't matter though with Mizsak having his best stuff on the mound from the first pitch to his last. The Tigers finished the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record thanks to four dominant performances from their starters Jereko Martinez in game one, Jacob Glovich in game two, Seth Christiansen in game three and Alexander Mizsak in game four.
