MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University football coaching staff added a familiar face as Alex Foster has been named the linebackers coach and special team coordinator, head football coach Ross Cimpl announced Tuesday.
Foster has eight years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. He most recently coached the linebackers and special teams at Minnesota State University Moorhead for two seasons.
Prior to coaching at MSUM, Foster was named the assistant linebackers coach at NCAA Division I institution South Dakota State University. He coached at SDSU for two years before leaving for MSUM in 2016.
"I am excited about the opportunity to rejoin Coach Cimpl and his staff at Dakota Wesleyan University," Foster commented. "Ross runs his program the right way and has high expectations for his players both on and off the field. I look forward to helping him continue this standard while also helping raise the program to new heights. I can't wait to be back in the blue and white!"
Foster coached the defensive line for two seasons at Dakota Wesleyan while attending graduate school. In all, he has coached six All-Conference players during his tenure at DWU and MSUM.
"We are very excited to be able to bring Coach Foster back to DWU," Cimpl said. "He did a tremendous job in the graduate assistant role before, so there is no doubt he is the right person for this increased role on our staff. He brings great experience and knowledge to our program that will help our program achieve our goals."
