Tiger basketball to host Alumni Day
MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University will be hosting an Alumni Day on Jan. 28 to honor past DWU alumni, while retiring the jersey of former DWU great Brady Wiebe.
MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University will be hosting an Alumni Day on Jan. 28 to honor past DWU alumni, while retiring the jersey of former DWU great Brady Wiebe.
The day will kick off with the Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's basketball teams hosting Hastings College for a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup starting at 2 p.m. at the Corn Palace.
"Our basketball alumni have such a strong connection and all share a common bond," said Jon Hart, director of athletics at DWU. "This is always a special day in the Corn Palace to honor the past and present. This is always a weekend that our coaches, athletes and fans look forward to!"
All basketball alumni are encouraged to attend and will be recognized during the games, while having the opportunity to gather in the hospitality room for a social between each game.
The night will be highlighted by retiring former two-time NAIA All-American Brady Wiebe. Wiebe tallied 2,052 points during his four-year career at DWU, good for fifth place on the all-time scoring list. Wiebe also holds the record for free-throw accuracy in a game, total free-throws in a season and total free-throws in a career. Wiebe's No. 32 will be added to the current retired numbers that include No. 22 Randy Fletcher, No. 25 Glenn Draisey, No. 50 Alan Miller, No. 50 Scott Morgan and No. 54 Greg Hansen.
