Men’s golf improves on second day of Bethel Invite
NEWTON, Kan. – Competing against nationally ranked squads in the NAIA, the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s golf team came back in the second round of the Bethel Spring Invitational to place 12th out of 19 teams with a total of 628 on Saturday and Sunday in Newton, Kan., and Hesston, Kan.

In the first round, the Tigers tallied a team total of 319 with Bennett Lundy (Aberdeen, S.D.) leading the way with a 78. Only one stroke behind Lundy was Nolan Wiegel (Huron, S.D.) and Justice Morrison (Norris, S.D.) who each carded a 79 on day one.
Tony Hayes (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Cade Carpenter (Mitchell, S.D.) each finished with an 83 on the first day. With a team total of 319, the Tigers sat in 14th place out of 19 teams heading to the second day.
Sitting 13 strokes behind fellow Great Plains Athletic Conference team Concordia University, the Tigers stormed back in the second day to finish one stroke ahead of Concordia after a total of 309.
DWU finished the second round with four of the five golfers shooting in the 70's. Hayes finished the second day with a 75, while Carpenter came back with a 77. Wiegel tallied a 78, Morrison carded a 79 and Lundy finished the second round with an 82.
The Tigers return to the course at the Northwestern Match Play tomorrow in Orange City, Iowa.
