Warriors down Tigers in season opener
MITCHELL, S.D. – Despite being tied 1-1, the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team was unable to muster any offense in the second half in nonconference action against Waldorf University on Sunday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell. The Warriors scored three goals in the final 10 minutes, defeating DWU 4-1.

The Warriors scored three goals in the final 10 minutes, defeating DWU 4-1.
Shayne Quinn (Webster, S.D.) put the Tigers on the board first in the 38th minute, but Waldorf quickly executed by tying the game two minutes later.
In the second half, Waldorf was able to pressure the Tiger defense and recorded three goal in the final frame.
The Warriors outshot the Tigers 26-4 in the contest. Freshman Chandler Briggs (Springfield, Neb.) tallied two shots, while Andrew Luoma (Fairbanks, Alaska) added a shot on goal.
Goalie Gaston Miteff (Berazategui, Argentina) had seven saves in the opener for the Tigers.
The Tigers (0-1) return to action on Wednesday when they host NCAA DII University of Mary for an exhibition game at 7 p.m. in Mitchell.
