Recap –
In the first conference game of the new year, the DWU men's basketball team looked to get into the win column. Jakob Dobney scored the first basket for the Tigers with a smooth jump shot in the opening possession. Diang Gatluak in his first start of the season would grab a rebound a few possessions later and then make his first shot of the game, a triple from the top to give DWU a one-point lead in the opening minutes of the contest. Gatluak would keep it rolling in the next possession as he drove from the left wing to the rim and scored the and-one lay in and converted the free throw. The early buckets would soon stop for DWU as they struggled to get shots to fall, and Concordia started to fire away. The Bulldogs would make a three pointer at 15:29 to take the lead away from DWU and the Bulldogs didn't let go of it as they outscored DWU 24-11 in a nine-minute run. Gatluak and Dobney scored eight points a piece in the first half as DWU trailed 47-28 at the break.
DWU had their work cut out for them in the second half, trailing 19. Randy Rosenquist Jr. picked the ball from the Bulldog center and Dobney was able to go and score an open layup. The Tigers started to get in their groove, scoring on nine of their first thirteen possessions to open the second half to make it a 13-point game. Just as the Tiger's started to get the ball to go through the rim, Concordia was just heating up. Every time the Tigers would get a couple points, the Bulldogs responded with a three pointer in the second half. The biggest lead would be 25 points for the Bulldogs with about eight minutes remaining and both teams started to rotate the benches into the game. DWU would score 43 points in the second half and shoot 49% from the floor. Dobney led with 19 points and Gatluak poured in 14 points. Ethan Determan led the bench in scoring with nine points.
