Recap –
After going on a four-game winning streak, the Dakota Wesleyan men's basketball team dropped an intense contest at home against Concordia. The first half saw back and forth offense between the two offenses. Randy Rosenquist Jr. found Kallan Herman for an easy score to get the Tigers on the scoreboard. The Bulldogs and Tigers passed the lead to one another, the biggest lead being three points by the Tigers after Rosenquist Jr. swished a baseline jump shot. It wouldn't be until halfway through the first half would Concordia grab a multiple possession lead. Concordia would make a three-point bucket just under the eight-minute mark and forced DWU to take a timeout to prevent a big run. As the teams came back to the court, Dakota Wesleyan got some quick points from a Rosenquist layup and a Dobney triple to cut the Bulldog lead to 26-22. As time ticked away, the Tigers and Bulldogs traded scoring. Concordia went on to close out the half with the six-point lead over the Tigers. Dobney was the leading score for DWU with 10 points while Rosenquist and Kallan Herman each had eight points.
Coming out of the halftime break, Concordia bumped their lead out to 10 points before the Tigers found the bottom of the net. Dobney would attack the rim to make a tough layup and the Tigers would use this as some fuel. Dakota Wesleyan went on a 24-point run to take the 61 to 58 lead after a Diang Gatluak three pointer from the top of the arc. In that run, the Tigers hit a pair of threes both from Gatluak and went perfect from the free throw line. Gatluak would continue to keep the Tigers in the game as he drove down the right side of the lane and put in the flashy layup to tie up the game at 67 a piece with eight minutes left to play. Concordia got back ahead of DWU by five, before Herman hit his only three-pointer of the night from the left wing from an Oliver Vincent feed. This bucket would be the last time the Tigers would be within one possession game before the Bulldogs went on a late second half run. Dakota Wesleyan looked to cut the deficit but were unable to get the ball to fall through the net. Gatluak and Herman each scored 17 points for the Tigers and Dobney followed with 16 points. The Tigers drop to 14-11 overall and 9-8 in the GPAC.
