DWU sets multiple program top-10 marks at SDSU DII Invite

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the SDSU DII Invitational on Friday in Brookings, S.D.
Junior thrower Caden Milmine (Buffalo, Wyo.) led the Tigers in the shot put. He notched a throw of 49-10.5 feet, taking third place. The throw moves him up on the program's all-time list into sixth place in the shot put.
Freshman Ryan Kienzle (Gillette, Wyo.) took 10th in the shot put with a toss of 45-7.25. Kienzle also moved into the top-10 in program history in the weight throw with a toss of 48-1.25.
On the women's side of the throwing events, freshman Journey Mehlhaf (Menno, S.D.) moved into the top-10 in program history in shot put with a toss of 30-7.
In the distance, Justin Sorensen (Vermillion, S.D.) moved into eighth all-time in DWU track and field history in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:43.34 minutes.
Zach Fieber (Goodwin, S.D.) also jumped into the top-10 list in the 600-meter run with a finish of 1:28.81.
In the women's distance events, Annika Vermeulen (Mitchell, S.D.) now sits 10th in program history in the indoor mile with a run of 5:59.51. Ashley Pruss (Tea, S.D.) now sits 10th in program history in the 5,000-meter run after tallying a time of 23:40.34.
The Tigers next host the DWU Open on Saturday at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex in Mitchell.
