DWU drops road matchup to Jimmies

Jamestown jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead to begin the game. However, the Tigers (17-8, 10-7 GPAC) went on a 10-4 run to tie the game following a Ty Hoglund (Dell Rapids, S.D.) two-point shot.
The Jimmies (23-4, 13-4 GPAC) answered with a 6-2 run of their own to hold an 18-12 lead midway through the first half. Collin Kramer (Volga, S.D.) pulled DWU within a point with a 3-point shot with 7:53 left in the opening half.
Following a Nick Harden (Chicago, Ill.) two-pointer, the Jimmies put together a 9-0 run to hold a 10-point advantage, forcing the DWU timeout. Coming out of the timeout, Aaron Ahmadu (Houston, Texas) hit a 3-point basket to cut the deficit to seven points.
Hoglund notched a pair of free throws with less than a minute remaining as the Tigers trailed 43-32 at halftime.
Kramer sank the first basket of the second half from beyond the arc to pull DWU within single digits. But the Jimmies continued their hot shooting as they went on another run, this time a 17-5 run to hold a 60-40 lead with 15:51 left to play.
With less than nine minutes to play, Mason Larson (Langford, S.D.) hit a 3-point shot, assisted by Koln Oppold (Sioux Falls, S.D.). Minutes later, Tristan Teichmeier (Sioux Falls, S.D.) hit a two-point basket, but it was not enough as DWU fell on the road.
Kramer led DWU as he fell a rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Ahmadu chipped in 11 points and three rebounds. Teichmeier added nine points and nine rebounds, as McCloud and Hoglund notched six points apiece.
The Tigers host Mount Marty College at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Corn Palace.
