No. 17 Tigers rout Mustangs

The Tigers (6-0, 2-0 GPAC) raced out to a quick 7-0 lead thanks to a Nick Harden (Chicago Ill.) 3-pointer and a Ty Hoglund (Dell Rapids, S.D.) dunk. DWU continued the offensive outburst in the first half with a 15-2 run midway through the first half capped off by a Collin Kramer (Volga, S.D.) slam to give the Tigers a 49-22 lead.
With a minute remaining, the DWU transition game once again turned into a highlight as Mason Larson (Langford, S.D.) ran the floor getting a slam dunk off the Harden assist and the Tigers went into halftime leading Sisseton Wahpeton, 62-34.
The second half saw much of the same as DWU continued to score and distribute the ball. The Tigers scored 65 second-half points including 11 points from Tanner DenHoed (Madison, S.D.) while Jeffery Schuch (Dell Rapids, S.D.) and Tyus Arends (Sioux Center, Iowa.) tallied nine points in the second half alone, as DWU grabbed their sixth win of the season.
Harden led all scorers with 22 points and had five steals defensively, while Hoglund notched 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field. Tristan Teichmeier (Sioux Falls, S.D.) poured in 13 points and six rebounds while Koln Oppold (Sioux Falls, S.D.) chipped in eight points in the victory. DWU shot 63.4 percent from the field and 45.2 percent from 3-point range in the contest, while outrebounding the Mustangs, 41-28.
The Tigers will return to GPAC play to face off against Dordt College at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
