DEJONG NAMED TO THE NAIA AND AFCA FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICA
Mitchell, S.D. – The NAIA announced the 2022 Football All-Americans this morning. Among the selected was senior defensive back, Adam DeJong. DeJong tied a school record with his three-interception game against Briar Cliff. Adam ended the season with seven interceptions. This is DeJong's first selection to the All-America team during his tenure with the Tigers. Adam was also selected to the AFCA first team All-America and GPAC first team All-Conference.
DeJong's seven interceptions was the second most in all the NAIA, being behind the leader by one lone interception. Adam was on the top in the GPAC with those seven interceptions. He added 45 total tackles, 2.5 TFL and four pass breakups. His highlighted performance of the year was the school record tying three interception game against Briar Cliff with two of the interceptions being returned for a touchdown accounting for 12 of the Tigers 31 points in a 31-24 win. DeJong had another stat stuffer game against No. 17 Midland where he had season highs in tackles (8) and TFL (2.0) while also adding an interception.
