ADAM DEJONG SELECTED AS A NOMINEE FOR THE CLIFF HARRIS AWARD
Mitchell, S.D. – Senior football player, Adam DeJong has been nominated for the Cliff Harris Award Small College Defensive Player of the Year. Former DWU alumni football player Brady Bonte was the last DWU nominee for this award. DeJong has been nominated for this award for his stellar performance this year for the Tigers registering seven interceptions which ranked second in all the NAIA and first in the GPAC. Adam's standout season was highlighted by a school record tying three interception game against Briar Cliff. Adam has collected the hardware this fall earning First Team All-Conference and First Team All-America for both the AFCA and NAIA. DeJong was also named a 2022 Daktronics Scholar Athlete. Six athletes out of the GPAC have been selected as nominees for the award.
This award is presented to the nation's top small college defensive player representing more than 5,000 defensive players from almost 500 NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA colleges and universities. A prestigious selection committee made up of former college and pro football greats will select the winner. In addition to the CLIFF HARRIS AWARD overall winner, the top vote getter from each division will also be announced.
