Tigers battle at Northwest Iowa National Invite
LE MARS, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s golf teams competed against some of the toughest competition in the NAIA over the past two days at the Northwest Iowa National Invite. The women’s team finished in sixth place, while the men’s team took seventh on Monday and Tuesday at the Willow Creek Golf Club in Le Mars, Iowa.

The women's team finished in sixth place, while the men's team took seventh on Monday and Tuesday at the Willow Creek Golf Club in Le Mars, Iowa.
Both teams played 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. The men's squad moved up one spot from Monday to Tuesday as they tallied a three-round total of 914.
Leading the charge for DWU was senior Cade Carpenter (Mitchell, S.D.) who tied for 18th with a 226. Payton Phares (Rapid City, S.D.) finished tied for 33rd with a 231 in the tournament. Fellow teammate Jack Brinkman (Jackson, Minn.) was not far behind as he took 38th after carding a 233.
Bennett Lundy (Aberdeen, S.D.) tied for 39th after only finishing one stroke behind Brinkman with a 234. Only one stroke behind Lundy was Devan Weelborg (Bryant, S.D.) who carded a 235 through two days, tying for 43rd.
On the women's side, DWU dropped one spot from the opening day to finish in sixth. However, the Tigers competed against some nationally recognized teams in Morningside College and Texas Wesleyan University, who took the top two spots in the tournament.
Taking the top spot for the Tigers was Megan Hinker (Lennox, S.D.) who tied for 12th place. She notched her best round on Monday with a 74, while she totaled a 232 through three rounds.
Ashley Zimmer (Mitchell, S.D.) tied for 23rd as she carded a 248 in the two days. Jordan Glanzer (Howard, S.D.) started off the tournament with her best round of 82. She finished with a 256, tying for 30th. Not far behind was Kaitlyn Greenhoff (Dell Rapids, S.D.) who tied for 35th with a total of 263. Rounding out the group of Tigers was Ronae Klein (Winner, S.D.) as she came in 39th after carding a 270.
Both teams compete next at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Fall Championships. The men's team competes on Sept. 28-29 at the Indian Creek Country Club in Elkhorn, Neb. The women's squad hits the course on Oct. 5-6 at the Dakota Dunes Country Club in Dakota Dunes, S.D.
