Weelborg takes third as Tigers place third at Prairie Dunes Collegiate Invite
HUTCHINSON, Kan.– The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s golf team kicked off its spring season on Monday and Tuesday as they competed against seven other teams at the Prairie Dunes Collegiate Invite. DWU finished the two days in third place with a score of 645 at the Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.

DWU finished the two days in third place with a score of 645 at the Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
Leading the way for the Tigers was sophomore Devan Weelborg (Bryant, S.D.) as he took third with a two-day total of 153. He finished the first day in second place after carding a 73. However, Weelborg finished his second round with an 80 as he finished at +13, just three strokes behind the second-place golfer.
Having one of the biggest improvements from round one to round two was freshman Jack Brinkman (Jackson, Minn.). He completed his opening round tied for 29th and finished tied for ninth after his second round. Brinkman finished the two days with a 161 on his scorecard, including an 86 on the first day and a 75 on the second day.
Cade Carpenter (Mitchell, S.D.) finished tied for 16th after being tied for fifth after his opening round. He carded a 79 in the first day and an 86 in his second round to finish with a 165. Tony Hayes (Sioux Falls, S.D.) tallied a 168 through two days, including an 83 in his second round to finish tied for 26th.
Bennett Lundy (Aberdeen, S.D.) rounded out the DWU golfers as he tied for 30th with a two-day total of 171. He was tied for 19th after his first-round total of 84 before carding an 87 on the second day.
The Tigers hit the course again at the Hardrocker Spring Invite on Monday and Tuesday at the Arrowhead Country Club in Rapid City, S.D.
