MEN’S DMR SHINES IN BROOKINGS, EIGHT TOP-3 PERFORMANCES AT MOUNT MARTY
YANKTON, S.D. – Just one week away from the 2022 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) indoor track and field championships, the Dakota Wesleyan University track and field program leaped into action this weekend at the SDSU Indoor Classic as well as the Mount Marty Last Chance Invite. The men's distance medley relay, comprised of Caleb Sayler, Justin Sorensen, Hunter Shanks and Wyatt Baldauf, clocked a new program record on Friday while eight different Tigers secured top-3 finishes in their respective events on Saturday.

The men's distance medley relay, comprised of Caleb Sayler, Justin Sorensen, Hunter Shanks and Wyatt Baldauf, clocked a new program record on Friday while eight different Tigers secured top-3 finishes in their respective events on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dakota Wesleyan kicked off the weekend's competition on Friday as the Tigers competed in a talented distance medley relay field while in Brookings on Friday evening. DWU crossed the finish line in a time of 10:51.38 and shaved five seconds off the previous program best.
Caden Milmine continued his momentum on Saturday with the shot-put title as the Buffalo, Wyo., native now has three first-place performances in the shot this season. Milmine recorded a throw of 53-5.75 on his sixth and final attempt of the day. Elsewhere in the throwing ring, Katlyn Briggs dialed a mark of 53-2.75 in the women's weight throw which placed her third in the final standings.
The Tiger jumpers also had several impressive performances starting with DWU senior Lia Guigui who ended the day second in the long jump with a leap of 16-5. Cale Strong and Cobey Carr tallied second and fourth-place finishes in the men's triple jump, respectively as Strong registered a distance of 41-7.75. Lastly, Ryley Johansen, who finished fourth in the men's long jump, was the runner-up in the high jump competition with a mark of 6-4.75 following three attempts at 6-7.
Rounding out the day on the track, Annika Vermeulen clocked a third-place finish in the women's 800-meter field while Shanks doubled on the weekend as he recorded a time of 1:27.12 in the 600-meter dash. The Dakota Wesleyan men's 4x400-meter relay concluded the action with a runner-up performance.

Head coach Matt Rosado and the Tigers kick off championship season at the conference indoor track and field championships on Friday and Saturday from the Fuhrer Fieldhouse in Crete, Neb. with a time yet to be announced.
