Ryan Kienzle signs with DWU men’s track and field
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s track and field team has announced its’ newest signee in Gillette, Wyo., native Ryan Kienzle, the DWU head track and field coach Zach Lurz announced Thursday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's track and field team has announced its' newest signee in Gillette, Wyo., native Ryan Kienzle, the DWU head track and field coach Zach Lurz announced Thursday.
Kienzle is a two-time All-State member for his performances with shot put, hammer throw, discus and the weight throw.
"Ryan brings a strong background in the throws, especially in the discus," Lurz commented. "He will be adding to the depth that we have had in that event group and we are excited to have him competing for the Tigers next year."
His best mark in the shot put was 52-9 feet that helped him place second at the indoor state meet. His personal record in the hammer throw was 125-2 at the Big Sky State Games that propelled him to a first-place finish.
In the discus, Kienzle took first place in the state meet with a mark of 176-1, while recording a personal best in the weight throw following a mark of 47-11 at the Simplot Games.
"Ryan is an exceptional athlete and he will develop quickly into the hammer throw," Lurz mentioned. "We are looking to see big things from him in the years to come."
Kienzle is the son of John and Cari Kienzle and he plans to major in athletic training.
