Loeppky goes the distance, Budmark comes up big for DWU
HASTINGS, Neb. – Senior pitcher Lorissa Loeppky (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) gave the Tigers a fighting chance in a Great Plains Athletic Conference elimination game on Friday in Hastings, Neb.

HASTINGS, Neb. – Senior pitcher Lorissa Loeppky (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) gave the Tigers a fighting chance in a Great Plains Athletic Conference elimination game on Friday in Hastings, Neb.
Aside from a stellar pitching performance from Loeppky, sophomore Amber Budmark hit an RBI single that scored the winning run in walk-off fashion as the Tigers defeated College of Saint Mary 7-6 in an eight-inning affair.
Down three runs heading into the fourth inning, the DWU offense went to work, recording a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and three more in the bottom of the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. The Tigers didn't go down without a fight after the Flames put up a three spot in the top of the seventh. DWU went on to record two runs in the bottom half of the seventh and the eventual winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Alize Martinez (Palmdale, Calif.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs and a home run. Sophomore Karly Severance (Las Vegas, Nev.) had one of her best performances at the plate this season, going 2-for-2 with a double, home run, a run and three RBIs. Budmark went 2-for-4 with the game-winning RBI and a run.
Loeppky fired eight innings, allowing six earned runs on eight hits, while striking out seven and walking three.
The Tigers (20-33) will face Concordia at Noon on Saturday in an elimination game in Hastings, Neb.
