BIGELOW WINS INDIVIDUAL TITLE AT DWU OPEN

The Dakota Wesleyan men's wrestling team hosted their DWU Open wrestling tournament today and saw great success. The Tigers had three individuals finish in the top five of their weight classes. Kaleb Bigelow highlighted the Tiger's success as he secured the individual title in the 165-weight class. Lane Miller grabbed third place in 174 and Zach Zitek was third in the 141.

125 – Freshman Kipp Cordes put on a show in his Tiger debut by going 5-3 on the day, taking sixth place as well as upsetting Northern State wrestler Brenden Salfrank. Cordes won his matches with two decision victories, one major decision win, and two fall wins.

125 – Jaxson Irvine finished 0-2.
133 – Temka Natsagnorj finished 1-2.
141 – Zach Zitek would knock off No. 10 ranked wrestler Taylor Vasquez from Morningside to finish in third place and finish the day 4-1. Zitek would grab his wins via sudden victory, two decision wins, and would win third place by no contest over a Fort Hays State Wrestler.
141 – Tyson Durham finished 0-2.
149 – Aric Williams finished 1-2.
149 – Zach Kolbe finished 0-2.
157 – Tyson Johnson finished 2-2, getting his wins via technical fall and by decision.
157 – Dylan Arrendondo finished 1-2.
157 – Elijah Isakson finished 0-2.
165 – Kaleb Bigelow went 4-0 on route to his champion title, the first for DWU at their own home event since 2012. Bigelow won three by decision and one by major decisions, outscoring all his opponents by a score of 35-14.
174 – Lane Miller grabbed a third-place finish after he finished with a record of 4-1. Miller won his matches by technical fall, decision, and no contest in his third-place match.
197 – Colten Hink finished 1-2.
285 – Cole Hennings finished 0-2.
285 – Tanner Hennings finished 1-2.
