TIGERS STRUGGLE AT DOANE INVITE
Crete, Neb. – The DWU Men's wrestling team had 12 athletes compete in the Doane Conner/Oppenheim Open this afternoon. Eight Tigers competed in the varsity bracket and four were competing in the amateur bracket. Colton Hink was the top Tiger on the day as he went 3-2 on the day and advanced to the 5th round in the consolation bracket.

125- Will Farren received a bye in the first round before being pinned in the following round by Gabe Grice (6:16). Farren moved to the consolation bracket and defeated an unattached wrestler via fall (0:54). Will would be pinned in his final match of the day by a Doane Tiger (2:04).
125- Kipp Cordes moved into the second round of the champions bracket where he was defeated 17-12 by a Bluehawk from Dickinson State. Kordes went into the 3rd round in the consolation bracket and was pinned by Gabe Gonzales of Grand View at 1:45, ending the day for Kipp.
133- Temka Natsagdorj fell to Nebraska wrestler Drew Cooper in his first match of the day (1:56) and was sent to the consolation bracket. Temka would have to medically forfeit his final match of the day.
141- Zach Zitek went 1-2 on the day. Zitek lost his opening match by decision (14-7) and moved to the consolation bracket. Zitek would win his second match by a narrow margin, 8-6 over a Dickinson State wrestler. Zitek lost his final bout of the day 10-9 to Tanner Frothinger of Nebraska.
157- Tyson Johnson went 0-2 being defeated by Iowa State's Kraisser by fall (2:52) and Oklahoma Wesleyan's Cannon by major decision (11-3).
174- Lane Miller was pinned in his first matchup of the day (0:41) to Jarin Gomez. Miller won by decision in the first round of the consolation bracket after going up 12-5 over Tate Nordby. Miller had to medically forfeit his final match.
197- Colton Hink was defeated by technical fall (TF 19-4) in the second round of the champions bracket after receiving a first-round bye. Hink moved into the third round of the consolation bracket after getting another bye. He would defeat a Nebraska Wesleyan wrestler by major decision (16-2). Colton would win his round 4 consolation match via medical forfeit. In the 5th round in the consolation bracket, Hink would face off against a Doane Tiger. Hink would end up being defeated by a major decision and be done for the day.
285- Cole Hennings lost his opening match to a Nebraska wrestler via technical fall (19-4). In the consolation bracket, Hennings was defeated by Juan Camacho by sudden victory (SV-1 7-4).
The four amateurs that competed for the Tigers include Jaxson Irvine, Tyson Durham, Zach Kolbe, and Tanner Hennings. These four finished the day with a combined win/loss of 3-8.
