DWU Falls in GPAC Opener

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team opened the 2014 Great Plains Athletics Conference season with a four-set loss to Nebraska Wesleyan University Saturday, Sept. 13, in Lincoln, Neb.
After dropping the first two sets to the Prairie Wolves, the Tigers (4-6, 0-1 GPAC) rallied to extend the match with a win in the third set. But NWU closed out the win in the fourth set. The set scores were 25-19, 25-14, 23-25, 25-9.
The Tigers got 11 kills and seven digs from sophomore Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.), while sophomore Sammy Fluck (Becker, Minn.) added 10 kills. Sophomore setter Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) posted a team-high 32 kills, while adding 11 digs. Sophomore Libero Maggie Stehly led the Tigers with 18 digs.
The Prairie Wolves were led by Katelyn Walsh with 16 kills, while Alexa Rosenau added a game-high 36 assists.
The Tigers continue play in the GPAC against Briar Cliff University at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17 in Sioux City, Iowa.
