DWU Volleyball Falls to No. 10 Midland in 3 Games
MITCHELL, S.D. – Through the first game at home, the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team hung with the No. 10 Midland University Warriors, but the visitors eventually pulled away for a three-game win Friday at the Christen Family Athletic Center in Mitchell, S.D.
MITCHELL, S.D. – Through the first game at home, the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team hung with the No. 10 Midland University Warriors, but the visitors eventually pulled away for a three-game win Friday at the Christen Family Athletic Center in Mitchell, S.D.
The Tigers battled the Warriors to extra time in the first game before falling 28-26 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup. Midland controlled the final two games, winning each 25-17.
DWU was led by sophomore Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) with 13 kills, while sophomore Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) added a team-high 25 assists. Junior Maggie Stehly (Sioux Falls, S.D.) led DWU defensively with nine digs, while Sammy Fluck (Becker, Minn.) finished with 3.5 blocks.
The loss drops the Tigers to 0-4 in the GPAC and 5-9 overall.
The Warriors got a match-high 14 kills from K.C. Heimann, while Megan Farley finished with 41 assists. Darcy Berry added 15 digs in the win for a Midland team that moves to 4-0 in the GPAC and 14-3 overall.
DWU will look to breakthrough with its first win in the GPAC and at the Christen Family Athletic Center this season against No. 18 Hastings College at 4 p.m. Saturday.
