MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team was picked to finish 11th in the Great Plains Athletic Conference 2014 preseason coaches' poll.
The Tigers are led by first year coach Lindsay Wilber after finishing 0-16 in conference play and 7-28 overall in 2013. Wilber said the preseason ranking is where she expected DWU, which received 10 points in the voting, to be picked.
"After last season's final record and having a new coach at the helm, our preseason-poll ranking is where I expected it to be," Wilber said. "The players and I look forward to working hard in the preseason for our first conference match on Sept. 13 at Hastings College."
Northwestern College was picked to finish first in the poll with 98 points and eight first-place votes, while Midland University was picked second with three first-place votes.
The Tigers return 13 players and have 12 incoming freshman and transfers for the 2014 season. DWU opens the season against Dickinson State University at noon Aug. 23 in Dickinson, N.D.
