Tigers Fall in 4 Games to No. 18 Hastings
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team came out against Hastings and put the No. 18 team in the country down one game early in a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup Saturday at the Christen Family Athletic Center in Mitchell, S.D.
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team came out against Hastings and put the No. 18 team in the country down one game early in a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup Saturday at the Christen Family Athletic Center in Mitchell, S.D.
Hastings (11-7, 2-4 GPAC) found its rhythm in the second game and went on for the four-game win over the Tigers. The game scores were 16-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20.
After 10 hitting errors in the first game, the Broncos were able to put pressure on the Tiger defense for the rest of the match. Katie Zoucha led Hastings with a match-high 21 kills, while Abbey Preissler added 16 kills. Setter Katie Placke finished with 43 assists for the Broncos and Lindy Matthews chipped in with 13 digs.
For the Tigers, sophomore Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) and sophomore Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) led the offense with eight kills, while sophomore setter Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) collected 27 assists in the loss. Junior Libero Maggie Stehly (Sioux Falls, S.D.) had a match-high 16 digs for DWU, which fell to 5-10 overall and 0-5 in the GPAC.
The Tigers will have a couple of days off after playing four matches in five days before heading to Orange City, Iowa to take on GPAC foe Northwestern College at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30.
