ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team kept the score close in the opening game before falling to Great Plains Athletic Conference for Northwestern College in three games Tuesday in Orange City, Iowa.
The Tigers battled the sixth ranked Red Raiders to extra points in the first game before falling. The set scores were 26-24, 25-19, 25-12.
DWU was led by junior Mackenzie Stevens (Polk, Neb), who finished with a match-high 15 digs. Sophomore Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) led the Tiger offense with eight kills, while sophomore Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) added seven. Sophomore setter Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) chipped in with 27 assists for DWU, which finished with a .189 hitting percentage.
The Red Raiders got 10 kills from Karlie Schut and Haley Chambers, while the team finished with a hitting percentage of .279.
The Tigers (5-11, 0-6 GPAC) will attempt to get their first conference win of the season when they take on Concordia University at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Seward, Neb.
