Tigers set to compete in final regular-season competition at Mount Marty Invite
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s track and field team is set to compete one final time before the 2021 GPAC Indoor Conference Championships as it will compete in the Mount Marty Invitational at 10 a.m. on Friday from the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse in Yankton, S.D.

Senior thrower Caden Milmine (Buffalo, Wyo.) returns to the throwing ring where he is currently tied for third place on the conference leaderboards in the shot put. Milmine recorded a collegiate best 52-0.5 feet (15.86m) in the event a week ago and is tied for ninth nationally. Fellow Tiger thrower Ryan Kienzle (Gillette, Wyo.) also ranks top-10 in the conference ranks in the shot put as he sits in eighth place with a mark of 46-10.25 feet (14.28m).
Jump specialists Austin Moen (Webster, S.D.) and Cale Strong (Norfolk, Neb.) return to the runway after impressive performances a week ago. Strong tallied a leap of 42-1.25 feet (12.83m) as he swept the field in the triple jump and Moen finished third with a mark of 39-8.5 feet (12.10m). Cobey Carr (Pierre, S.D.) is also expected to compete in the jumping events.
On the track, middle-distance specialists Hunter Shanks (Bennington, Neb.) and Justin Sorensen (Vermillion, S.D.) return to action after top-5 finishes last week. Shanks, who placed second in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:41.00 minutes, is situated just inside the top-20 on the conference leaderboards in the event. Sorensen, who competed in both the 1,000 meters and 600-meter run, is expected to race in the 800 meters and holds a collegiate best of 2:02.31 minutes in the event.
