Gulf Shores, Ala.– Three members of the Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams ended the 2021 outdoor track and field season by competing at the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday and Friday from Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Jumps specialists Lydia Gerber (Canton, S.D.) kicked off the action for Dakota Wesleyan on Thursday with a leap of 37-6.75 feet (11.45m). Gerber entered Thursday's field seeded 24th and that is where she ended the competition.
On Friday, it was Caden Milmine (Buffalo, Wyo.) taking center stage in the men's shot put as he entered the field ranked top-20 in the event. On his first attempt, Milmine dialed his best throw of the day with a mark of 52-6.5 feet (16.01m) which was good enough for a 13th-place finish.
Also competing at the championship event was Lia Guigui (Rapid City, S.D.) who was unable to clear a height in the women's high jump.
A total of five Tigers earned All-Conference accolades at the 2021 Great Plains Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships earlier this month.
