Trio of Tigers prepare for NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Alabama
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s track and field teams qualified three individuals to compete at the 2021 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships kicking off this Wednesday through Friday from Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.

After earning NAIA All-American honors indoors, Dakota Wesleyan throws specialists Caden Milmine (Buffalo, Wyo.) prepares for another trip to the NAIA Outdoor Championships once again in the shot put. Milmine, who secured both a season best and the NAIA 'A' standard in the event with a toss of 53-3.75 feet (16.25m) at the Dordt Invitational, is scheduled to compete at 1 p.m. on Friday. The Buffalo, Wyo., native enters the field ranked 17th amongst all competitors and holds the fifth best mark amid GPAC contenders.
Also earning NAIA All-American accolades during the indoor season, DWU senior jumps specialist Lydia Gerber (Canton, S.D.) will compete at the outdoor championships in the triple jump. Gerber holds a season-best of 37-11.5 feet (11.57m) which she recorded at the University of South Dakota Challenge. The Canton, S.D., native registered a runner-up finish in the event at the 2021 GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships and is seeded just inside the top-25 in Thursday's competition which is slated for 5:30 p.m.
Fellow Tiger jumps specialists Lia Guigui (Rapid City, S.D.) will compete in her first national outdoor championships after qualifying in the high jump. Guigui tallied a leap of 5-4.5 feet (1.64m) at the Concordia University Twilight Meet as the season-best mark was good enough for the NAIA 'B' standard and ranked second all-time in program history. The Douglas High School product enters the field ranked top-20 in the event and will compete at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
