MITCHELL, S.D. – Hoping to continue its momentum from the fall season and competition so far this spring, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's golf team takes aim at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships slated for Friday and Saturday from the Bent Tree Golf Club in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Dakota Wesleyan finished in third place at the GPAC Women's Golf Qualifier last October as DWU carded a team score of 720. Megan Hinker (Lennox, S.D.), who finished fourth individually with a score of 163 in the event, has continued her strong play into the spring. In three events, the junior has three top-10 places including a fifth-place finish at the Dordt Invite where she registered a score of 154.
Also progressing nicely is fellow Dakota Wesleyan junior Ashley Zimmer (Mitchell, S.D.), who sat in 22nd place at the conclusion of the fall championships. Zimmer matched Hinker's score of 172 as the junior duo tied for seventh at the Hardrocker Spring Invite and maintains a season best of 165 this spring.
Ronae Klein (Winner, S.D.), who tallied a score of 183 last October, completed a score of 175 at the Dordt Invite and secured a 12th-place finish at the spring tournament held in Rapid City, S.D. Also competing for the Blue and Gray are Erin Moncur (Miller, S.D.) and Jordan Glanzer (Howard, S.D.). Moncur recorded a 36th-place finish at the Concordia Bulldog Invite earlier this spring, while Glanzer is tied for 39th following the fall rounds of the GPAC Championships.
