WOMEN’S GOLF FINISHES SECOND AFTER DAY TWO AT 2024 KAITLYN ERIKSON INVITE CALLED OFF DUE TO EXTREME WEATHER
Lincoln, Neb. –
Dakota Wesleyan University's women's golf team competed in the Kaitlyn Erickson Doane Invite down in Lincoln, Neb yesterday. What was supposed to be a two-day meet turned was called with just a few holes left to play due to weather conditions. The golfers battled windy and rainy conditions both days, but the second day became too much, and the second day scores were scratched. Only the first day scores were to be used and the Tigers finished in second place and were the top GPAC school.
The team was led by Sara Sudenga and Ashton Austreim who both finished round one with scores of 84. Sudenga finished one spot ahead of Austreim after the tie breakers were used and she finished in 10th place. Four Tigers placed top-20 and the whole team was top-25 out of 59 competitors.
Coach Jeff Meyerink had this to say about the round, "It was a tale of two 9's for everyone today. Sara had a 38 on the back nine, Ashton and Erin each had 40 on the back. I know what this team is capable of, I just hope they do. We only have one week left before the GPAC Championships and right now is the time to figure it out and put it all together."
