Ashley Bray named NAIA All-America Second Team, Herrold receives Honorable Mention nod
MITCHELL, S.D. – For the third time in Dakota Wesleyan University women’s basketball history, two players received NAIA All American honors as Ashley Bray (Anoka, Minn.) was named to the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Second Team and Erica Herrold (Dimock, S.D.) received NAIA Honorable Mention, it was announced by the NAIA Thursday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – For the third time in Dakota Wesleyan University women's basketball history, two players received NAIA All American honors as Ashley Bray (Anoka, Minn.) was named to the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Second Team and Erica Herrold (Dimock, S.D.) received NAIA Honorable Mention, it was announced by the NAIA Thursday.
Bray received such honors for the first time in her career after a breakout season for the Tigers. She led the team with 12.9 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game. She also ranked near the top in free-throw percentage all season shooting 90 percent from the line. Bray scored her 1,000th-career point this season, finishing with 1,146 points and ranking 19th on the DWU women's all-time scoring list. Bray was one of four Tigers to finish a game with a double-double this season.
For the second year in a row, Herrold received All-American honors, this year as an Honorable Mention. Herrold finished her career with 1,618 points, fifth on the DWU all-time scoring list, to go along with 472 rebounds and 152 assists. She finished her senior season with 11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Herrold scored double-digit points in 22 games this season.
Both players earned All-Conference First-Team honors earlier this season. They helped the Tigers reach the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championships and the Great Plains Athletic Conference championship game for the second-straight season and finished with a 27-7 overall record and a 15-5 record in conference play.
