MITCHELL, S.D. – Head women's basketball coach Jason Christensen has added another piece of the puzzle in Ethan, S.D., native Kacey Bartscher.
Bartscher, a five-year letterwinner for the Ethan Rustlers, led her team to a third-place finish in the 2017 South Dakota State Basketball Tournament and a 24-2 record. Bartscher also tallied 14 points, four rebounds and four assists per game, while reaching the 1,000-point mark in her career. She was also an all-conference and all-tournament team selection for Head Coach Tom Young.
"We are thrilled to be adding another Ethan native to the Tiger basketball squad," Christensen said. "Kacey comes from a great high school basketball program under coach Tom Young. She has a great attitude and passion for the game and we are excited to watch her transition in the next four years as a Tiger."
As a sophomore, Bartscher led Ethan to a state championship and a runner-up finish as a junior with a 21-5 record. In the fall, she was a first team all-conference member and team captain of the Ethan volleyball squad.
In the classroom, Bartscher is a 4.0 student, a member of the Gold Honor Roll, valedictorian of her class, National Honor Society President, student council member and recipient of the Ronald Reagan Leadership Award.
She is the daughter of Hank and Lesley Bartscher and plans to major in biochemistry at DWU.
