Tiger men rebound with big win over Doane

No. 4 DWU (12-1, 5-1 GPAC) won the battle of the Tigers with a 90-65 win over Doane, with the team's trio of leading scorers doing a large portion of the damage in the Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup.
Reigning GPAC Player of the Week Trae Bergh (Crooks, S.D.) led the way for DWU with 28 points, including six 3-pointers. Bergh played a large role in DWU doubling its 12-point halftime lead early in the second half.
Senior guard Kris Menning (Corsica, S.D.) was also sharp from beyond the arc, making five 3-pointers to finish with 21 points. Senior forward Jalen Voss (Worthington, Minn.) was 7-of-10 from the field and added with 18 points for DWU.
Mitchell, S.D., natives Jade Miller and Tate Martin each came off the bench to score eight points, while senior guard Joey Mitchell (Tulare, S.D.) added a team-high five assists.
The Tigers shot 56 percent from the field, while making 16-of-27 shots from beyond the three-point line. DWU outrebounded Doane 32-24, while committing nine turnovers and finishing with 20 total assists.
Doane was led by Deonte Holt with 23 points, while Trevor Cyboron added 10 points off the bench in the loss. Doane shot 50 percent from the field and made 4-of-11 shots from three-point range.
DWU wraps up the pre-Christmas portion of its GPAC schedule with a matchup against Concordia University at 6 p.m. Friday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D.
