MITCHELL, S.D. – For the second time this season, senior Dakota Wesleyan University men's basketball forward Jalen Voss has earned Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.
The No. 4 Tigers, who are 13-1 overall and 6-1 in the GPAC, played once last week, picking up a win at home over Concordia University at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D.
Voss led DWU following halftime after being limited in the first half with foul trouble. The Worthington, Minn., native, played just 21 minutes in the 91-78 win for the Tigers. Voss scored 19 of his game-high 25 points in the second half and connected on all three of his 3-point attempts after the break.
Voss' scoring surge in the second half allowed the Tigers to pull away from the Bulldogs for the win. The POTW honor is the third for the Tigers this season, with junior guard Trae Bergh (Crooks, S.D.) having earned the award earlier in the season to go along with the two selections for Voss.
Voss leads the GPAC with 21.6 points per game and is shooting a league best 62.9 percent from the field. DWU is currently tied atop the GPAC standings with No. 8 Midland University and No. 24 Briar Cliff University.
The Tigers are off until heading to West Palm Beach, Fla., for the Northwood Classic starting Dec. 29.
