Alexandria, S.D., native Jordan Marquardt signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for DWU, it was announced Tuesday. He is the 11th member of the DWU recruiting class of 2015
"Jordan will be a very good addition to our basketball program and school," DWU Coach Matt Wilber said. "He is a great teammate and a smart, skilled basketball player."
Marquardt is a member of the fifth-ranked Hanson High School boys' basketball team that has its focus set on the South Dakota Class B State Tournament next month. The 5-foot-11 guard is averaging 20.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game for the Beavers this season. Hanson is currently 14-2 with four games left before the postseason.
As a junior, Marquardt was named to the Class B All-State Second Team, All-Cornbelt Conference First Team and the league's MVP after averaging 18.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. "He is a high-character individual that will make our program better and I am confident he will represent us in a positive way on and off the court," Wilber added. "We are excited to add him to our DWU family."
Jordan is the son of Jim Marquardt and Susan Bridge and plans to major in business at DWU.
