DWU SOFTBALL DROPS TWO FROM ABERDEEN ON DAY ONE OF THE PRESENTATION DOME INVITE.
Aberdeen, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan softball dropped a five-inning game one before battling in a slugfest against Mayville in game two. Reagan Grossi and Meghan Daffern both had quality days at the plate for Coach Lien and company.

How It Happened
Game 1
- DWU opened the day from the Presentation Dome as the home team against Dakota State.
- With one out and three DSU runners on base, they sent one past the outfield fence going up 4-0 on the Tigers right away.
- Dakota Wesleyan allowed five more Dakota State runs in the second inning after a three RBI double, a one RBI double, and a sac fly to right field as the Trojans extended their lead to 9-0.
- DWU cooled down the Trojan bats in the third inning only allowing one run, before putting two of their own up in the bottom.
- The Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the third as Reagan Grossi sent one out of the park recording two RBI in the process.
- The final run of the game was by DSU in the top of the fourth for the final score of Dakota State 11 Dakota Wesleyan 2.
- Grossi was 2-for-3 with one run and two RBI in the game; as Nora Nelson was 2-for-2.
Game 2
- Tigers stepped to the plate in game two of the day and load the bases right away.
- Tianna Boone walked to the plate with two out trying to bring them around but watched strike three.
- Mayville kicked off their first time down the batting order with a two-out triple then putting one over the fence for a two-run homerun.
- Haley Linke reached base to start the second inning off after ball four.
- Adriana Thomason singled up the middle allowing Linke to advance to third.
- After a fielder's choice and a ground out to second base, the Tigers stranded two runners as they continued to trail 2-0.
- The Comets grabbed another run in the bottom of the second with a single to center field.
- For the second time this game, the Tigers loaded the bases with one out, and turned that into an RBI walk from Linke as DWU still trailed 3-1.
- Mayville put another two runs on the board, both a result of singles to center field for a 5-1 lead.
- Tigers tighten the score in the fourth inning as Meghan Daffern kicks things off with a single to center field.
- Linke reached base on another walk for runners on first and second, then Thomason steps up and sends one flying for a three-run homerun cutting the deficit to 5-4.
- Comets went into the bottom of the inning and grabbed their second home run of the game, this time scoring two runs extending their lead to 7-4.
- Sixth inning came around and Daffern hit a double to right field driving across one run before Nora Nelson loaded the bases on a walk.
- Tianna Boone then singled, allowing Daffern to score and closing the gap to 7-6.
- Recording one run in the bottom of the seventh, Mayville once again pushed the lead out to 8-6.
- The Tigers left one runner stranded in Burke as they fell 8-6 against the Comets.
- Burke was 3-for-4 with three hits, one walk, and one run.
- Daffern was 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI and one walk.
- Thomason was 2-for-4 with three RBI.
