Madison, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University grinded out a game one win, 9-8 after extra innings. DWU dropped game two after batting .300 as a team and .333 with runners on and less than two outs.

How It Happened
Game One
- After falling behind 1-0 in the first, DWU came storming back in the second checking in with three runs on two hits.
- Jaden Warner picked up a single through the middle, advancing Reagan Grossi to third before crossing home on an error by the Trojans center fielder; Nora Nelson also collected a run on the batted ball.
- With two outs and the 2-1 lead, Lena McCoy singled through the left side allowing Warner to cross for the 3-1 lead over the Trojans.
- The Tigers run production stayed hot in the third inning as Nelson singled to center field allowing McKinnely Mull and Peyton Bagley to score.
- Shortly after, Warner hit a triple driving in Grossi and Nelson for the 7-1 lead over Dakota State.
- The Tigers grabbed the 8-1 lead in the fourth after Nelson collected a base hit to left field allowing Mull to score.
- Proceeding a scoreless fifth and top of the sixth inning, the Trojans closed the Tiger lead, putting up seven runs on six hits to tie the game 8-8.
- In the seventh, DWU went three-up and three-down as Dakota State stepped to the plate.
- Neither DWU or DSU earned a run in the seventh and so extra innings was needed to determine the game.
- With runners at second and third and one out, Bagley grounded out to third as Ella Peterson scored what was the winning run.
- Nelson went 2-for-3 with two runs, three RBI and a walk; Warner also went 2-for-3 with a run, three RBI, and a triple.
- Alyssa Burke, Bagley, and Mull each tallied a stolen base in game one.
- McKenna Thomason tossed 2.2 innings allowing one hit to earn the extra innings win.
- Katelyn Farris tossed five complete innings allowing eight hits, three runs, and striking out three.
Game Two
- Through the first three innings of game two, the Tigers and Trojans combined for a total of five hits and seven runners left on base for a 0-0 score heading into the fourth.
- Dakota Wesleyan crossed home first in the game as Thomason singled to left field allowing Sophie Wietzema to score for the 1-0 lead.
- DWU was unable to hang onto the lead for long as Dakota State stepped to the plate in the bottom of the fourth to hit a grand slam for the 4-1 advantage.
- After a scoreless fifth inning, the Tigers tallied two runs off a single from Peterson, then earned two more runs on a single to center field by Mull.
- As DWU now leads 5-4, Warner steps to the plate and hits a single to right field extending their lead to 7-4.
- In the bottom of the sixth, DSU tallied five runs on four hits to retake the lead and the victory in game two 9-7 over DWU.
- Ella Peterson was 2-for-4 with a run, two RBI, and a double; Monique Gomez went 2-for-3, Mull and Warner each went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI.
