FIVE DWU FOOTBALL PLAYERS WERE NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Mitchell, S.D. – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced the 2021 GPAC Football All-Conference Team selections this morning. The Tigers football team posted five players to the All-Conference list, led by First Team Defense selection, Cody Reichelt.
Others tabbed to the GPAC All-Conference list were offensive lineman TJ Benton and defensive lineman Dominick Warmbein. DWU football also earned two honorable mentions with Daniel Libolt and Sam Kretschmar.
All-Conference First Team Defense
Mitchell, S.D. native, Cody Reichelt led the DWU football defense with 66 tackles on the season, 38 of those tackles, were solo, while; the remaining 28 tackles were assisted. The senior linebacker also put down seven sacks on the season for a loss of 45-yards. Reichelt had 11 tackles for a loss totaling 55-yards. In the final game of the season against Morningside, Reichelt rushed for 11-yards.
All-Conference Second Team Offense
Notching GPAC All-Conference second-team offensive honor is Junior lineman TJ Benton of Spokane, Wash.
All-Conference Second Team Defense
Senior defensive lineman Dominick Warmbein collected second-team honors for defense. The Sioux Falls, S.D., native racked up 38 tackles on the season, 13 of those being unassisted. Warmbein also notched 4.5 sacks for a loss of 32-yards and 9 tackles for a loss totaling 44-yards.
Honorable Mention
Daniel Libolt a senior from Chambers, Neb., tallied 13 kickoff returns, totaling 276-yards for an average return of 21.2-yards. The senior from Chambers, Neb. tallied 16 punt returns on the season totaling, 79-yards with a mean return of 4.9-yards.
Senior Sam Kretschmar rounds out the All-Conference awards list for the Tiger football program. Kretschmar was second in tackles, racking up 59 total on the season, 23 of such tackles were unassisted. The Huron, S.D. native, tallied four tackles for a loss totaling 25-yards through his 11 games played. The senior linebacker also forced one fumble, broke up two passes, and got his hands on one block.
