Fitts leads, Tigers in fourth after GPAC No. 1
DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's golf team was back in action Wednesday, defending its conference title at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Qualifier No. 1 at Two Rivers Golf Course in Dakota Dunes, S.D hosted by Briar Cliff University.

Senior Lauren Fitts (Brookings, S.D.), the three-time defending GPAC champion, finished Wednesday where she left off in the spring, at the top of the leaderboard. Fitts carded a 75, seven strokes ahead of Nebraska Wesleyan University's Kelsey Marshall who carded an 82. Fitts won the 2014-15 individual title by seven strokes.
Junior April Barnett (Lakeview, Texas) was next for the Tigers tied for 14th shooting an 87 on the day. Barnett finished tied for fifth on the individual GPAC leaderboard last season.
Senior Taylor Anshutz (Gregory, S.D.) finished tied for 33rd with a 94, while junior Aisha Abbink (Scotland, S.D.) carded a 98 for a 43rd-place finish.
The Tigers finished in a tie with Concordia University Nebraska for fourth place. As a team, DWU shot a 354. Morningside College is in the lead after the first round as they carded a team score of 342. DWU has won the past seven GPAC team titles.
The Tigers will look to climb the leaderboard at the GPAC Qualifier No. 2 hosted by Hastings College on Monday in Hastings, Neb.
