Fitts wins GPAC Golfer of the Week for 10th time
MITCHELL, S.D. – The honors just keep rolling in for Dakota Wesleyan University women’s golf senior Lauren Fitts in her final season with the Tigers.
MITCHELL, S.D. – The honors just keep rolling in for Dakota Wesleyan University women's golf senior Lauren Fitts in her final season with the Tigers.
The three-time defending Great Plains Athletic Conference champion won the last five events of the fall portion of the 2015-16 schedule and holds an 11-stroke lead on the GPAC leaderboard.
The Brookings, S.D., native won the William Penn Classic last week by two strokes and for her effort Fitts was named the GPAC Women's Golfer of the Week for the third straight time, the conference announced Wednesday. The honor is her third straight this season and the 10th of her decorated career.
Fitts' performance at the two GPAC qualifiers paced the Tigers' push up the team leaderboard as DWU jumped from fourth into a tie for second, just 10 strokes off the lead held by Mount Marty College after two rounds. The Tigers have won the last seven GPAC team titles.
DWU is off until the spring with the GPAC Qualifier No. 3 set to be held in Mitchell, S.D., at Wild Oak Golf Course.
