DWU women open spring at SGU

Senior Lauren Fitts (Brookings, S.D.), the three-time defending Great Plains Athletic Conference champion, finished the meet in second place. Fitts carded an 80 in both rounds, for a two-round total of 160. Edging out Fitts for the title was Katy Colson from St. Thomas who had a two-round total of 159.
Coming in second for the Tiger team was senior Taylor Anshutz (Gregory, S.D.) finished in a tie for 23rd carding a two-round total of 187. Junior April Barnett (Lakeview, Texas) ended the two-day event in a tie for 28th with a 192. Freshman Rachael Horner (Sioux Falls, S.D.) shot a 202 total for two rounds to finish in 33rd. Rounding out the Tiger roster was freshman Niki Nelson (Platte, S.D.) completing the first meet of the spring season in 36th place with a 207 two-round total.
DWU finished in sixth place as a team shooting a 738, carding a 369 each day. Oklahoma Baptist University topped the leaderboard with a two-day total of 666.
The Tiger women's golf team will return to action Wednesday, April 13 at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Qualifier No. 3 hosted by Concordia University at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb. The Tigers are currently in second place, 10 strokes off the lead.
