Women’s golf takes third at Grand View
ANKENY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's golf team returned to action at the Grand View University Spring Viking Classic Monday and Tuesday at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny, Iowa.
ANKENY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's golf team returned to action at the Grand View University Spring Viking Classic Monday and Tuesday at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny, Iowa.
Senior Lauren Fitts (Brookings, S.D.) finished in a tie for fifth place with a two-round total of 147. Fitts shot a 71 in the first round and finished the second round with a 76.
Taylor Anshutz (Gregory, S.D.) ended the two-day classic in 13th with a two-round total of 154, shooting 77 in both rounds. Junior April Barnett (Lakeview, Texas) carded a 159, finishing in 16th place, while freshman Niki Nelson (Platte, S.D.) shot a 173 for two rounds to finish in 24th. Completing DWU's roster was freshman Rachael Horner (Sioux Falls, S.D.) who finished in 31st with a two-round total of 184.
As a team the Tigers finished in third place with a team score of 633. DWU shot a 316 in the first round and a 317 in the final round. Taking home the title was Bellevue University (Neb.) with a two-round total of 581, while the individual winner was Sena Ersoy from Iowa Western Community College with a two-round score of 140, including a 65 in the final round.
The DWU women's golf team will be back on the course at the Buena Vista University Invitational Saturday at the Spring Lake Country Club in Storm Lake, Iowa.
