Fitts wins playoff, Tigers take 2nd at BVU

Senior Lauren Fitts (Brookings, S.D.) charged up the leaderboard in the second round with a 74 on Sunday to earn a spot in a three-player playoff with two members of the William Penn University team, Demi Coertze and Jing Yang. Fitts outlasted the pair, earning tournament medalist honors for the first time this spring. She finished the event with a 159 two-round score.
Fitts effort helped propel DWU to a second-place finish with an overall team score of 681 (353-328). William Penn took the team title with a score of 653.
Junior April Barnett (Lakeview, Texas) also charged up the leaderboard on day two with a second-round 77, to finish the event in seventh place with a score of 165. Senior Taylor Anshutz (Gregory, S.D.) carded a 173 to tie for 17th, while Niki Nelson (Platte, S.D.) added a 26th-place showing with a 184.
The Tigers compete next at the Kaitlyn Erickson Invitational Thursday at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb.
