MITCHELL, S.D. – After winning six straight games and the first two of the Great Plains Athletic Conference season, the DWU women's soccer team fell to No. 25 Hastings College 3-0 on Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.
The Tigers were held scoreless in the loss as senior forward Megan Johnson's (Rapid City, S.D.) streak of six straight games with at least two goals came to an end. Johnson, still leads the nation in goals with 22 in 11 contests, led the Tigers in shots in the game with six and Kylie Keiser followed with two, although neither converted.
For Hastings, forward Kelsey Nealon led the way with two goals in the first half, setting the tone for the Broncos early on. Taylor Geis increased the lead to three with a goal of her own in the second half, putting the game out of reach for the Tigers.
Defensively, DWU freshman goalkeeper Cici Schneider (Sioux Falls, S.D.) made eight saves in the game and Sarah Toney, goalkeeper for the Broncos, recorded three.
Dakota Wesleyan (6-5, 2-1 GPAC) continues its season Oct. 7 when it travels to Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, for another GPAC contest.
