MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer recruiting class is rounding into shape, with Head Coach Clayson Glasgow dipping back into the Sioux Falls, S.D., talent pool for another signing.
Sioux Falls Roosevelt standout Gemini Wesley has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Tigers next year, it was announced Tuesday. Wesley is the fourth commitment for the class of 2015 to sign with DWU, and is the third to come from Sioux Falls.
"Gemini is a great addition to Dakota Wesleyan University and our soccer program," Glasgow said. "We need players who can score goals and I strongly believe Gemini will do just that for us. I'm really excited that she chose DWU to continuing her education and play soccer for the Tigers."
Wesley will join the Tigers on the heels of two club state championships in high school with the Rough Riders (Roosevelt did not compete in sanctioned high school soccer until the 2014 season). Wesley previously played for Glasgow, when the DWU coach was still with the Roosevelt team prior to taking the coaching position with the Tigers prior to last season.
She is a 5-foot-7 forward and will add depth to the Tigers' front line, which will have holes to fill with the graduation of leading scorers Megan Johnson and Thara Ali Said from last year's squad.
"The main reason I chose to continue my soccer career at DWU is it's close to home and has a lot to offer me including the major I want to study," Wesley said of her decision to sign with the Tigers.
Wesleyan played three years for the Rough Rider soccer team and is also a member of the Roosevelt track and field team. She is the daughter of Albert and Jennifer Wesley and plans to major in athletic training at DWU.
