MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team continued its midseason dominance with a fifth consecutive win Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.
The Tigers topped Waldorf College 3-1 in the team's final nonconference game of the season. The win is the fifth of the season for the Tigers, which gives them more than all of last season under first-year coach Clayson Glasgow.
Junior Maranda Ehrenfried (Pierre, S.D.) got the Tigers started with an early goal on a feed from senior defender Kylie Keiser (Sioux Falls, S.D.).
The NAIA's leading goal scorer, senior forward Megan Johnson (Rapid City, S.D.), pushed the Tiger lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal in less than one minute later.
After the Warriors pulled to within one on a goal from Kayla Hicks, Johnson struck again for her second of the contest and 19th goal of the season. Both teams were scoreless in the second half.
Waldorf outshot DWU 18 to 16, but Tiger freshman goalkeeper Cici Schnieder (Sioux Falls, S.D.) made nine saves in her fifth win of the season.
The Tigers return to Great Plains Athletic Conference action against Dordt College at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
