Johnson Earns 3rd Straight GPAC POTW
MITCHELL, S.D. – After three goals in the first four games of 2014, senior forward Megan Johnson (Rapid City, S.D.) has racked up 16 goals in her last five games, all wins for the Dakota Wesleyan University women’s soccer team.
MITCHELL, S.D. – After three goals in the first four games of 2014, senior forward Megan Johnson (Rapid City, S.D.) has racked up 16 goals in her last five games, all wins for the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team.
In two games last week, Johnson scored four goals, with two in each in home games against Presentation College and Waldorf College. In the win over the Saints, Johnson added three assists as she was around the net the entire match.
For her effort, Johnson has been selected as the GPAC Offensive Player of the Week for the third straight time, it was announced Tuesday.
With 19 goals this season, Johnson leads the Great Plains Athletic Conference and the NAIA. She is also averaging a nation-high 4.67 points per game. In her three previous seasons with the Tigers, Johnson scored 10 goals combined.
The Tigers are leading the GPAC with 3.22 goals per contest, with Concordia University and Midland University in second at 2.44.
Johnson and the Tigers (5-4) will look to continue their strong play in a return to GPAC play on the road against Dordt College Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Sioux Center, Iowa.
