MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team had trouble finding the back of the net Saturday against 15th-ranked and Great Plains Athletic Conference perennial powerhouse Hastings College.
The game was scoreless for the first 44 minutes before Daniel Tautz knocked in the first goal of the game for the Broncos. Hastings came out firing again in the second half as goals by Tyler Ortlieb, Damien Austen and Fabian Zefferer put the game out of reach for the Tigers.
For DWU, Josue Garcia, Zach Schneider and Tyler Grilley all recorded shots on goal, but were unable to put any through for the score.
Defensively, DWU goalkeeper Alex Nelson had nine saves, while Hastings' keeper Alex Guyer recorded three.
Dakota Wesleyan (6-5, 1-2 GPAC) hopes to bounce back from a two-game skid on Oct. 7 when it travels to Sioux City, Iowa, to take on the Morningside Mustangs in another GPAC matchup.
