MITCHELL, S.D. – Mitchell native Hallie Misiaszek committed to play softball at Dakota Wesleyan University by signing a letter of intent Saturday, Sept. 6.
Misiaszek recently began her senior season at Mitchell High School, where she holds the all-time club team record for wins, strikeouts, ERA and hits. She throws and hits right-handed and will pitch for the Tigers starting with the 2015-16 season.
"Hallie is another versatile player who can hit for average and has some pop in her bat." DWU softball coach Ed Kieff said. "She very seldom strikes out. She is a pitcher/infielder who has played at a very high level in club ball for several years. This summer she was teammates with our first 2015 signee Sierra Haage out of Sioux Falls. They traveled extensively and played some great ball all summer."
Hallie's father James Misiaszek is an assistant coach with the DWU softball team and her sister Dana transferred to DWU to play volleyball starting with the 2014 season.
"Hallie being from Mitchell and the daughter of our assistant coach makes this an even better signing as we really do want to keep the top student athletes from Mitchell in Mitchell whenever possible," Kieff said. "Hallie is close to the team already and will be a great fit coming in next fall. She is a great student and student athlete and brings a great deal of softball knowledge to the program. We are extremely excited to have her at DWU!"
Hallie is a career .391 hitter for the Mitchell Club team. She is a three-time all-state performer and has been named to the all-state tournament team three times as a pitcher. She played for the Unleashed Fastpitch and Diamonds Select club teams over the past four years. She hit .353 for Diamonds Select in 2014, including a .407 average in the Triple Crown World Series in San Diego, Calif.
Hallie is the daughter of James and Natalie Misiaszek and plans to major in biology with a minor in coaching.
