DWU ATHLETICS ANNOUNCES SOFTBALL COACHING CHANGE
Mitchell, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University athletic department and head Tiger softball coach Derek Lien are parting ways after two season with the program, the university announced Tuesday.
"We greatly appreciate Coach Lien's dedication to the softball program over the past three seasons, both as an assistant and head coach," said Athletic Director Jon Hart. "We have decided to move the program in a different direction and the search for a new head coach is already underway. I am grateful to Derek for his leadership and I wish him nothing but the best personally and professionally in his future endeavors."
During Lien's two seasons at the helm, he compiled an overall record of 25-57. This last year, he led the program to a 15-29 overall record, going 7-15 in conference play. They wrapped up the regular season on a three-game win streak, taking one game away from Briar Cliff and earning the sweep on senior day against Dordt.
